HELLO AND WELCOME

The journey to Pain Maison

Who doesn’t love home-made bread? And making it yourself by hand is even better – that’s why I set up Pain Maison.

I’m definitely passionate about baking bread even if I’m not too sure when it all started. Being raised in a country that produces beautiful bakes, I took it for granted. It’s not just the taste but the whole ‘ceremony’ of going to the bakery.

It’s so French!

Moving here, supermarket pre-sliced bread was bought through necessity so after a brief flirtation with a bread maker, I started kneading the dough by hand. After a few disasters, the loaves started to take shape and to taste good – even better when I began using sourdough.

OUR BAKED SOURDOUGH BREAD

Freshly Baked for you

All the sourdough loaves use a fresh starter fermented for four days before being added to the final ingredients.
So please order your bread by Monday for delivery on Saturday or Sunday.

PAIN AUX GRAINES

Seeded bread - £4.50

Bread made with whatever seeds are available at the time and my personal favourite! The seeds are soaked overnight to help digestion and make the bread texture a little chewy. This loaf is so tasty that you can have it on its own!

Ingredients: strong white flour, rye flour, filtered water, seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, flaxseeds, sesame, poppy) and salt.

PAIN AUX GRAINES DE COURGE ET MIEL

Milk bread - £4.50

This loaf sweetened with honey has a delicate taste that would marry well with savoury and sweet toppings. Milk has been used instead of water and that is what gives the lighter colour inside and out. Children will love it!

Pumpkin seeds with honey - £4.50

The idea for this loaf came to me recently when I was trying to marry the pumpkin and sweet tastes of Halloween. This bread has already been very successful amongst my customers and I have to say that it has become one of my favourites.

PAIN DATES SEIGLE

Rye and dates - £4.50

Rye has such a distinctive and rich taste. I have come up with a recipe combining rye and dates for a sweeter and lighter taste which is amazing. It reminds me of a loaf that we eat in France around Christmas time.
